4 Tips to Reduce Hair Loss

Some types of chemotherapy damage cells that cause hair growth. For some patients, losing their hair is one of the most emotional and upsetting parts of undergoing treatment. The good news is that hair almost always grows back 2 to 3 months after chemo is over. Since it usually takes about one or two weeks for hair to fall out after your first dose of chemo, you may want to purchase a hat, scarf, wig or turban to wear on your head. You may also want to use these four tips to reduce hair loss:

1. Do not rub your hair dry after washing it.

2. Avoid hair dryers, dyes and permanent hair coloring.

3. Have your hair cut short, prior to treatment.

4. Use a satin pillowcase to help decrease pulling on your hair.
