On October 29, Marines from the 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, in Parkville, Maryland visited our pediatric oncology patients. The Marines handed out specially made military tags and presented inpatients and outpatients with "honorary super kid Marine" certificates. They also performed a customized military salute and flag presentation to our childhood cancer director, Donald Small, M.D., Ph.D. and our clinical director, Ken Cohen, M.D.
For one patient, the military tag was just what he needed to complete his Halloween costume, a pilot.
