CJ’s mission

Evan Lipson
Evan Lipson, M.D.

As an oncologist, I am fascinated by the ways cancer patients bring meaning and satisfaction into their lives. Several months ago, I met a woman named Dian (though she goes by “CJ”). She's a retired Air Force intelligence officer who is living with advanced breast cancer. Her experience with the disease has turned her into quite an activist: she is now the chairman of METAvivor Research and Support, a program run by and for patients with metastatic breast cancer. As CJ will tell you, her work with METAvivor has been the most rewarding experience of her life.

Click below to hear a clip from CJ. She talks first about the support she received when she was initially diagnosed with early stage breast cancer, and then about how things changed once her disease had spread.
